Not to imply that there are loads of crooks in the ranks of product merchants and affiliate marketers too, but, as we know, there are always some creeping around in the maze of networks.

So, be sure to do your due diligence and look into:

• The reputation of the merchant.
• What negative postings might exist. Be careful, though, because some people post just to do harm to others.
• The commission/payments policies.
• The security and privacy protections.
• The look and professionalism of the merchant’s website.
• The various ways of contact for reaching the merchant’s operations.

In other words, trouble exists in all areas in the world of the internet, so we all must take all the steps necessary to keep our associations as clean as we can.  And that means doing some homework before signing up for someone’s affiliate program.
